Treat Your Tresses to Tea on Day 3 of 10 Days of Tea

Keep your hair vibrant and lustrous with tea.

By Colleen Walsh Fong

Spending a fortune for lovely locks? Try a few home remedies to keep the costs low and your hair lustrous.

Tea can retain or restore color and shine to your hair. Want to try it? Just cool tea made from steeping 2 bags for about 10 minutes. After washing your hair with your favorite shampoo, and rinsing hair, pour the cooled tea over your mane. Work it through your hair as you would shampoo or conditioner. Leave it on hair for 10 minutes, then use the conditioner of your choice. For best results use a type of tea that matches your hair color. Chamomile is best for blondes, black tea for brunettes, and rooibos (or any reddish herbal tea) for redheads.

Some people use tea as a natural color rinse to cover gray. If you’d like to try this chemical-free treatment, be forewarned that it can be time consuming. For best results make your dye a day ahead by combining:

1 cup boiling water

4 tea bags

1 Tbsp Dried Sage

1 Tbsp Dried Rosemary

Let the mixture intensify over night as it cools. (Refrigerating it is fine.) After washing your hair, saturate it with the tea-based dye. Leave it on hair for 30 minutes before rinsing it out. Some people report the need to treat hair in this way a few times to make the color stick. Color matching your hair to your tea, as suggested in the first tip, is recommended.

Using inexpensive ingredients such as these to keep your hair looking healthy and fresh can help keep your budget healthy, too. Another way to keep your expenses down is using the Easy Weekly Meals system. Stay beautiful and stay on budget the Easy way.

evidently just another low-information group. what they need to be focusing on is this: Did youRead More know that in all of the shootings, that the shooters were on one or more of these drugs? This touches one of the problems with a Fri pick up schedule. Folks who take weekend trips areRead More caught with either leaving the cans out or missing out by not putting their trash out. Since homeowners have zero choices under our government mandated trash plan to pay in advance for service without the ability to change carriers with different pick up dates, leaving the cans out is the results. IF the new city can change our pickup day to Mon or Tue this problem would be stopped or reduced

This is one of those "government mandated" services that actually are worth while. ImagineRead More 5 different garbage collectors going around PC every week stopping at every 5th home. But perhaps the city will attempt to get earlier in the week service for us. My household has good relations with our neighbors and they are more than happy to do the chore for us, as we they.

It's my understanding that a Monday or Tuesday pickup day is one of the stipulations in the RFP theRead More city sent out. You can review the RFP on the city's website.
