Top Your 'To Do' List: Vote Yes for Peachtree Corners

Your vote regarding the City of Peachtree Corners is not only important, your vote is necessary. Reliance on others to vote may lead to an historical missed opportunity.

After voting, you will receive a Georgia peach sticker that reads, "I'm a Georgia Voter." It is more than a mere sticker, however; it is a badge of honor, a recognition of your participation in an action that is the bedrock of our Republic.

There is a groundswell of support for our new City of Peachtree Corners, and the support is widespread from your neighbors, from your local businesses, and from elected leaders including State Representative Tom Rice, Commissioner Lynette Howard, State Senator Fran Milar, and School Board member Dr. Mary K. Murphy.

Nonetheless, despite logical rebuttals to their arguments, the contrarians persist, are focused, and will vote in force against self determination for a positive future for your community.

Compared with a County Commission race, for instance, one vote in determining if we have our own city is powerful. If you conclude that the extensive support for the City of Peachtree Corners is such that your Yes vote is unneeded, you may well be sorely disappointed, and an historical opportunity to benefit yourself and your community will be lost. The weather is great, and for a small price in time, you have the ability to participate in building something important. You have the power to positively effect the voting results and you should use that power.

If you believe in having our neighborhoods recognized as part of a coherent community that has the clout to protect and improve our quality of life, or you believe in local control of zoning tailored to the particular aspects of our community, or you believe as Realtors do that the existence of the City will help improve our property values, or you believe that the scope of government and taxes should be controlled by citizens rather than officials, or you believe in lower trash pickup costs, or you believe in smaller and accessible government where there is one representative per 6,300 residents rather than one for 200,000, then put your beliefs into action by voting Yes for Peachtree Corners.
