5K Race to Benefit Rainbow Village

Race scheduled Nov. 5 at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee.

Put on your running togs, grab your shoes and drive over to nearby Suwanee Saturday, Nov. 5, to run in the GA-PCOM Old Peachtree Road 5K benefiting Rainbow Village, which has a facility off Norcross-Tucker Road in Norcross.

The race starts at 9 a.m. at the Georgia Campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicineat 625 Old Peachtree Road.

Registration is $20 through 8:59 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2. Race day registration starting at 8 a.m. costs $25. Pre-register online at www.active.com keyword: GA-PCOM. Ordownload the flyer/registration form (PDF), fill it out and send it in by Nov. 2 via U.S. Mail.

The 5K race is an annual charity event sponsored by SOMA, the Student Osteopathic Medical Association. Child care will be provided by SOMA’s Pediatric Interest Group.

Rainbow Village is a transitional housing community for homeless families with children. Construction is underway on a new Rainbow Village campus in Duluth that will consolidate its facilities in Norcross and Duluth.

The Rev. Nancy Yancy of Peachtree Corners is Rainbow Village's Director and CEO. The organization has provided transitional homes in Norcross and Duluth, and program services that support the objectives of breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence for families with children.
