Five Things to Know

Find out what's going on in Peachtree Corners and beyond.

1. The great tree at will hold its annual tree lighting event on Friday, Nov. 25. Activities begin at 2 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. when the tree lights up for the Christmas season. Enjoy a concert at 6:30, carriage rides and more.

2. Gwinnett County government offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. County offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 28. A Magistrate Court judge will be available at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

3. Mark your calendars, on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 from 4-9 p.m. to stop by the on Peachtree Parkway and hear live music provided by the Orchestra's String Quartlet. Enjoy holiday music, good food and support our NHS Orchestra Program.

4. As part of its December Green Holiday Program, the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center will host its second annual Sustainable Gingerbread House Contest and Exhibit. Designers will create environmentally-friendly houses out of edible materials that highlight sustainability and green building design. Entry deadline is Nov. 30. 5. The weather looks like it will be almost perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The National Weather Service is predicting sunny, with a high near 67 on Thursday, lows a mild 41 degrees. Friday, another sunny one with the high around 64 and low around 45. Saturday and Sunday may see some chance of rain, 30 percent, but mild temperatures ranging from 49 to 57 degrees.
