Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation Honors Donors

Annual gala recognizes contributors, features journalist Ted Koppel as speaker

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- The Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation’s Cornerstone Society recognized donors of $1,000 or more at its annual gala, the foundation announced. The black-tie event featured award-winning journalist Ted Koppel as speaker.

“It is the people within a community who create a catalyst for change,” said Koppel. “Tonight marks your response to creating positive change by giving generously and supporting the future livelihood of the Gwinnett community.”

Dr. Manfred Sandler, chairman of the GMC Foundation Board of Directors, gave an update on the status of Gwinnett Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Center scheduled to open in early 2012 at the Feb. 19 gala.

The Physician Champion Award was presented to Dr. Tony Landis, and Distinguished Service Awards given to Barbara Howard and Bill Russell.

“Our Cornerstone Society members are the heroes behind GMC’s success,” said Jason Chandler, president of the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation. “Their generous giving enables Gwinnett Medical Center to continue its mission of delivering outstanding and innovative care to Gwinnett citizens.”

The Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation was created in 1990 as a not-for-profit philanthropic organization to support GMC’s mission of providing quality health services to the community. This support takes the form of programs and services that are funded in part by charitable contributions. Gwinnett Medical Center has campuses in Lawrenceville and Duluth.
