Gwinnett Village CID Appoints New Program Director

Editor's note: The city of Peachtree Corners is a member of the Gwinnett Village CID as a portion of the CID boundaries are located in the city. Council member Phil Sadd serves on the board.

At its monthly meeting, Gwinnett Village CID's Executive Director, Chuck Warbington, announced the departure of John McHenry who had been the Program Director for the past six years.

McHenry has accepted a position as City Planner with the City of Flowery Branch.

"John is a true believer in the CID and has a genuine heart for the community," said Warbington. "He will be greatly missed."

Alyssa Sinclair, the CID's current Project Manager, will assume his duties.

In other news, Nick Masino made a presentation on Partnership Gwinnett to the board and the 20 or so attendees.

"Partnership Gwinnett is a public-private initiative that was formed in 2006 to bring new jobs, businesses and capital investment into the county. We work with the Gwinnett Chamber and the business community," said Masino. "It's a team effort."

Masino said that despite the recession, a number of major companies have chosen to relocate or expand their businesses in Gwinnett including Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas Inc, Primerica, Inc and Rock Tenn Co.

Partnership Gwinnett also recognizes the value of entrepreneurs and small businesses. "Entrepreneurs play a vital role in economic development and new job growth," said Masino.

Warbington provided a brief update on the Diverging Diamond Interchange at I-85 and Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

"Construction has started. The south side of the bridge has been removed and most of the work is being done at night," said Warbington. "There have been no issues with lane closures so far."

The next board meeting is June 13 at 7:30 a.m. at the Gwinnett Village CID offices at 5855 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Suite 122, in Norcross.
