RaceTrac Severs Ties with Local Food Manufacturer After Recall

A spokesman for RaceTrac says the possibly contaminated food never made it to their stores.

 

On Saturday, a number of their products. Shortly after our publication of the story, Patch received the following statement from a spokesman from , which carried Flying Food Groups items prior to the recall:

“RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members to be extremely important. We preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on November 26 after our independent testing revealed a potential food safety issue at the supplier’s Lawrenceville facility. We immediately notified state and federal authorities of our findings and fully participated in their investigations.

 On December 3, 2011, Flying Food Group officially announced its voluntary recall of the FDA-regulated food items listed below:  

  • “Chicken Quarter Pounder
  • “Chicken Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes”
  • “Ham Quarter Pounder”
  •  “Ham Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes”
  • “American Sub”

All had an expiration date of November 30, 2011 and were distributed in Georgia only. No illnesses have been reported at this time.

As a result of our earlier actions, none of the products produced in the impacted facility are available in our Georgia stores. We have since severed our relationship with Flying Food Group both in Georgia and Florida.

We will continue to respond quickly and effectively to all threats to the health and safety of our valued guests and to ensure that all of our suppliers continue to meet our high standards.”
