Smog Alert Issued for Memorial Day

A Code Orange Unhealthy Air Quality alert has been issued for Metro Atlanta on Memorial Day for the local area, including Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake.

The Metro Atlanta area, including Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake, is under a Code Orange unhealthy air quality alert for Memorial Day.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, environmental protection division, issued a Code Orange alert, meaning the air quality has been deemed to be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Under Code Orange conditions, the air is likely to be unhealthy for some people such as children or people who are sensitive to Ozone. People with heart or lung disease are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when Ozone concentrations are highest.
