Selling Your Home? 10 Tips to Add Curb Appeal

You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Sprucing up your lawn and front entryway will help get buyers in the door.

It's springtime and everyone walks a little lighter. People are taking a closer look at their nest and deciding if it's time to find another. If you are joining the hoppy movers club then you need to take a few moments and take a few steps to make sure your home is viewed and desired.

When someone pulls up in front of your home, it needs to be a welcome mat. It needs to suggest the warmth and beauty of the interior of your home.

1.  If you are not a gardener hire a professional for this time on the market. It is a small price to pay for first impression of your home.

2.. Make sure your mailbox reflects the tidy clean appearance of the rest of the home. Replace if needed. Make sure post are are straight and in good order. Clean up base and and if there is space plant flowers at base.

3. Power wash driveway and sidewalk. What a difference this makes in a first impression.

4, Clean all windows. This is the time for your glass to sparkle.

5. Make sure your front porch, front door and if you have rails , are all in beautiful condition. If you have rails with peeling paint. Repaint them.

6. Make sure flower beds are filled with new mulch and flowers planted in beds where appropriate.

7. Make sure your yard is edged, islands defined, and there are NO DEAD PLANTS anywhere.

8. Front porch. Make sure there is a clear view of your door. Trim all shrubs so that the front is visible and easy to access. Put colorful pots by the door. Draw the eye to the front of your home.

9. Replace welcome mat with new one.

10. Make sure door hardware, front lights and brackets are free of tarnish and if they are tarnished then you will most likely want to replace.

Remember the agent and the buyers will have time to stare at the front door as they are opening the lockbox to get into your home.  Make sure all is in beautiful condition.

If you do the above items you will create the inviting welcome you want your buyers to experience. Remember, you only get a few seconds to make a great first impression.
