Spring Storms Bring Trouble for Early Morning Commuters

The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rain, with possible flooding in some areas.

The Monday morning commute is going to be a mess. Those heading into work this morning will have a slow go of it as heavy rains that moved in the early morning hour are expected to continue throughout the rush hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather report which shows that the showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. A flood warning has has been issued for Big Creek near Alpharetta.

Some of the storms could produce frequent lightning. The temperatures are expected to reach a high of 54 degrees, the chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

The storms are part of a strong upper level disturbance that is expected to move accross the area and move east of the state this afternoon which should bring an end to our wet weather.

But another system is expected on Tuesday night with more showers and thunderstorms predicted.Β  The National Weather Service is precicting the low around 49 degrees with east wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
