Ted’s Serves Up a Taste of the West

Enjoy bison and other western delights at Ted’s Montana Grill in Peachtree Corners.

Step into at the and you’ll be stepping into the atmosphere of the West. With study and planning, the designers of the Ted’s restaurants have taken pains to present a Western theme both in the interior design as well as on the menu.

From the tin ceilings and mahogany floors to the rich paneling and the Western prints (replicas of paintings owned by Ted Turner) you feel like you’re dining in a restaurant that you might find in Montana.

The menu carries on the Western theme with bison, salmon and trout among the most popular items. Proprietor Jeff Hormel, explained to me that bison is 90 percent lean. “Leaner than chicken.” The bison is free range, hormone free and very tasty. All of the burgers are available in bison or beef.

If fish is your favorite fare, I recommend the Salt-and-Pepper Trout which has gained national attention and I can see why. At only 650 calories, you get great flavor and no guilt. The trout is served with a corn and tomato salsa, roasted asparagus and sliced tomatoes.

Fresh is the order of the day at Ted’s. Kitchen manager Chris Rugh says that, “We believe in making batches more often and fresh throughout the day.” All of the meat is ground fresh daily. The potatoes are cut as needed for fries and cookies are made from scratch every day.

Hormel commented that, “Attention to detail to food can be time consuming but the end result is well worth it.” All of the “attentions to detail” that I tasted were very good. I enjoyed trying both the bison pot roast and bison chili. The two side dishes I had, roasted asparagus and squash casserole, were good and flavorful.

Proprietor Hormel says that he’s really glad to have a restaurant in Peachtree Corners. He mentioned that, “The people are so friendly and there are lots of regular guests. Tonight I can think of maybe 20 different couples who might be here. Ted’s is their regular Friday night spot.”

Hormel said that right now, for some community involvement, they are participating in the No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength project to prevent childhood hunger. They collect donations in exchange for a redeemable gift card that can be used at a future visit. So, it’s a win/win for everyone. Last year, as a part of this campaign, the 12 Ted’s in the Atlanta area pledged $150,000 and our Peachtree Corners Ted’s raised the most toward that goal.

Stop by Ted’s sometime soon for an authentic Montana dining experience.
