From: Mayor Announces New Developer Stepping In To Buy Roberts Property

I live 1/2 mile from the Roberts property and must assume that many of those who were so upset by the council live in nice, quiet sub-divisions on the west side of Peachtree Parkway or never wanted Peachtree Corners as a city. The reason I campaigned for the city was to have control of our zoning and to stop Gwinnett County from continuing to use the portion of Medlock Bridge between Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Industrial as a traffic dumping ground. It's bad enough the road was widened but to then add a high density apartment complex to the mix would have sent me over the edge. I applaud the vision that brought this into play and to a happy resolution. Lynden Carter

From: Q&A on Georgia's New Car "Title Tax"

The equitable solution here is simply to require new residents from out Of state to continue to pay the annual advalorem or birthday tax because that is what all current Georgia residents who bought a car in Georgia before march 1, 2012 will have to continue to do. Since they will have already paid their vehicle sales tax in the state they moved to Georgia from, it is patently wrong to ask them to pay a similar amount (6.5% this year, more next year) again. From: No Relief in Sight for Rising Gas Prices

How is it that today I filled up in Anderson, SC for $3.39 gal? By the way, state taxes are HIGHER in SC than GA! Someone in metro Atlanta is getting fat off of all of us buying gas daily. I'd love to see our governor investigate this mystery. Steve Rausch

From: How Would U.S. "Sequester" Budget Affect Georgia

This president has given us 4 years of over spending. Democrats control the presidency and the senate all that time. Somehow they blame the Republicans. Sequestration was the president’s idea. According to the Constitution, an annual budget is his responsibility. But he has put off coming up with any budget. We call it kicking the can down the road. Well the end of the road is here. We are borrowing 35 percent of our spending from China. This can’t continue. Remember Obama or any other president takes your tax dollars and gives them away. It’s not his money. Yet we pay for his fun.The scary question is, how much would your taxes have to go up to balance Obama’s spending plan?Tom H.

From: Do You Favor Lowering HOPE Grant Qualifications?

If this happens, it just becomes another entitlement program rewarding those who don't want to work hard. It also takes away the pride one might have in achievement. As it stands now, schools are "giving" superior grades and there are some who can't pass even the most basic classes. I agree that HOPE Funds should be used for technical schools and those kind of schools should be encouraged by parents and counselors alike. I don't want a "c" student working on my car, my tv, my air conditioner, etc. or giving me shots in the dr's office. They should be proud of their profession and achievements and dumbing down the requirements give them no incentive. Getting money to better yourself in tech school should be enough and it's better than starting a 4 year college program that you cannot finish. Sharron
