Tornado Watch Issued for Gwinnett, Surrounding Counties

The National Weather Service reports that thunderstorms, gusty winds up to 65 m.p.h. could be moving into north Georgia including Peachtree Corners.

The National Weather Service has issues a tornado watch for the area effective until 8 p.m. Monday.

The warnings include portions of Alabama, Tennessee and north Georgia.

According to the weather service, "Tornadoes, hail to 1 inch in diameter, thunderstorms with wind gusts to 65 m.p.h., and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas."

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. The National Weather Service warns that people in the area of a tornado watch "should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings."

Patch will continue to monitor the National Weather Service website and update this report as needed.
