Town Hall Meeting Set For Nov. 11 to Discuss Town Center Development

City Council members Alex Wright, Jeanne Aulbach and Lorri Christopher will host a town hall meeting starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Avocet Clubhouse, 820 Avocet Drive in Peachtree Corners.

"The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the development of the city-owned property on Peachtree Parkway, the results of Tuesday's (Nov. 5) general election and what it means to Peachtree Corners residents," Wright said. "We will also update citizens on taxes and trash collection."

A key question to be answered by Gwinnett County residents in Tuesday's election is should the special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) be continued. If voters agree to the extension, city officials have estimated, Peachtree Corners could receive as much as $20 million in new revenue over the life of the SPLOST.

City of Peachtree Corners residents will also vote on whether or not to grant the city redevelopment powers which allows cities to create tax allocation districts (TADs) to facilitate the redevelopment of undeveloped and economically depressed areas within their communities.

The town hall meeting marks the third time in recent weeks Peachtree Corners residents have been given an opportunity to tell city officials what they would like to see, or not see, on the city-owned property across from The Forum.
