The “Women for Karen” Kickoff Reception last night filled the Venetian Ballroom at the Hotel Intercontinental in Buckhead with over one hundred women who are supporters of Karen Handel for U.S. Senate.  The energy in the room was high octane as dedicated volunteers from Gwinnett, Cobb, Fulton, Spalding, Gilmer, and other surrounding counties all gathered to aid the Karen campaign to replace U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, who is stepping down. The Georgia Primary election is May 20, 2014.

Longtime DeKalb District One Commissioner Elaine Boyer was the emcee for the evening. Speakers included former Georgia G.O.P. Chairman Sue Everhart; Bette Rose Bowers, wife of former Georgia Attorney General Mike Bowers; Dr. Betty Price, wife of Congressman Tom Price, MD of Roswell; and Vivien Scott, wife of Congressman J. Austin Scott of Tifton.

Karen Handel delivered her usual to-the-point, common-sense remarks, which were succinct in their powerful conservative recipe for fixing the toxic government snarl that Washington has become. In her previous jobs as CEO of the Greater Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, Fulton County Commission Chairman, Secretary of State of Georgia, and vice president for policy for the charity Susan B. Komen Foundation, Karen has left all of those agencies better than she found them. High ethical standards as well as balancing a budget are things she does naturally with calm purpose!

Lawrenceville resident Carol Ann Stough attended the “Women for Karen” Kickoff, as did a delegation from Peachtree Corners, which included Debbie Mason, Amreeta Regmi, Glynda Jolley, Janice Crosby and Yours Truly.  Stay tuned for an announcement of a Karen Handel Meet & Greet event in Peachtree Corners, possibly around the end of October.
