Why I Am Running for City Council

My name is Gloria Rucks, and I am the co-owner of David and Gloria’s Barber and
Style Shop at 6025 Peachtree Parkway on the corner with Jay Bird Alley.

As the votes for forming our new city of Peachtree Corners were counted, the next
natural step in the process is to pick our new leaders.

As that next day dawned, my customers and friends began asking me to consider
running.  Why me?  I have never held public office before!! 

I am a fixture in the community.  Many residents of Peachtree Corners come through my shop on a regular basis.  I hear the concerns and praises of our citizens on a daily basis.   I know the value of service to my community

I have the support of my loving husband David. I know that he believes in me with his whole heart, and I know that he values my opinions and concerns.  He knows my strength, drive, and tenacity to do a great job at whatever I tackle.

I am a small business owner.  I have my finger on the pulse of our community and local economy.  A business owner must be people-oriented, understand the bottom line, and be a great listener, and I am all three. I know the importance of cost control – managing all available resources within the budget.  

I have lived in Peachtree Corners for the last 16 years.  I love this city, and I  would love to continue to be a part of its progress.

I have a fresh, real, down-to-earth view of how things need to be run in
Peachtree Corners.
