School-Safety Projects Approved Near Peachtree Elementary

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners OK'd projects to install sidewalk, curbs, gutters and turn lane on Crooked Creek Road.

Gwinnett County approved a contract for construction work near Peachtree Elementary School, it was announced Wednesday.

The Board of Commissioners chose Gregory Bridge Company over three other qualified bidders for two school safety projects along Crooked Creek Road in Peachtree Corners.

The contract is $260,028, with funding from the 2009 SPLOST program.

The first project will install sidewalk, curb and gutter on the northwest side of Crooked Creek from Woodmont Boulevard to the school and from the school to Creekstone Place.

The second project will add right-turn access to the school.

β€œThis is another good example of using voter-approved sales tax dollars to improve pedestrian connectivity and access to neighborhood schools,” District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard said in a press release.

The projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
