Peachtree Corners residents work and play hard. Be it marathon running, ALTA Tennis, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Golf, swimming, biking and on and on.

So how should the city be involved in recreational activities and/or provide outlets for these events.
One question that was asked by a voter was 'would the city take over the maintenance and activities on the County Parks and Facilities?'

The answer is No, not directly. The Parks and Recreation are considered a High Level Service under the Service Delivery Strategy. This will be bundled together along with the other services that will be contracted with Gwinnett County. Basically, there will be no impact to the current Parks and Recreation operational structure.
Another question should the City issue General Obligation Bonds to finance recreational facilities?
Answer: No. Generally speaking, General Obligation Bonds are backed by the full Taxing Authority of the City and places undo risk to both the business and resident tax base. Also, recreational facilities have a higher degree of risk of failure, if it is limited to only one sport or activity.
So what can the City do?
The City’s best asset will be its brand name. The City can lend its name, on a case by case basis to events that promote City activities. In addition, the Mayor and City Council Members can personally involve themselves in as many activities either as participants, coaches or representatives.
In summary, here is a vision of a typical Peachtree Corners Resident day:
8:00 a.m., Arrive at work by walking or biking less than 1 mile. (Work)
12:00 p.m., Lunch at local jazz musician restaurant. (just a stroll down the street) (Live)
5:30 p.m., Spouse/Kids arrive to caravan to the Park for Soccer and Baseball games. (Play)
This is the vision for the Future for the City of Peachtree Corners.
