City of Peachtree Corners (WLP)

Gray Terry City Council Post 5 Candidate

This is the 2 of 3 part series of City of Peachtree Corners Work, Live and Play, (today's topic: Live).

Peachtree Corners has its on unique lifestyle. Many residents have lived in their Peachtree Corners for 20 + years, while others have lived in the City for a few short months. Peachtree Corners  enjoyed the booming construction business in the 1990s, however was not immune to the housing crash in 2008.

Regardless, the housing market appears to have stabilized and living in Peachtree Corners is on the rebound regarding home prices. Here are 3 Lifecycle Living Standards that I wanted to put out for your consideration:

3) Mature Citizen (Retired individuals)

Early Young Professional: So how does the city attract those young 20 something professionals. One way is to encourage commercial lessors to redevelop their shopping center areas and make these centers pedestrian friendly and architecturally unique. (An example, are the developments that surround Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody). If you can walk, jog or ride a bike from your townhome to work, and then enjoy a sports, trivia or music restaurant on your way home to relax, I submit this is foundation to attract the younger professional to the city.

Mid Life Cycle (Famiies): The livability index and variety of housing options are very reasonable for famiies to locate to the city. There is an inventory of single family homes with various styles, designs and square footage in neighborhoods very attractive to families who seek a city where they and their kids can call home, go to school and establish the generational cycle for our kids to return and call Peachtree Corners home.

Mature Citizens (Retired Individuals): Similar to the young professional, create or redevelop a mixed use retirement village for the active citizens who can live, shop and enjoy their golden years within walking distance.

What would be the benefits:

A). Quality Living Lifestyle

B). Economic Benefit to Local Business

C). Stable Tax Base

The goal of the Lifecycle vision is to provide the opportunity to attract individuals in different stages of their lives and careers. The city can establish the masterplan and provide the road map to establish the living standards we all can enjoy for years to come.
