Community Corner
The True Meaning of Thanksgiving
An open invitation from your Peachtree Corners neighbor.
When bad things happen to good people it hurts just a little bit more. This past weekend I became aware of a family of very modest means that has experienced a tragic loss. Thankfully, no one was hurt,
May Helen Johnson, her daughter and grandchildren (a family of nine) lived in a humble, yet paid for home near Turner Field (Braves).

May Helen is on the board of EMMAUS HOUSE, a small Episcopal outreach community ministry that makes a difference in people’s lives in that neighborhood by among other things, supporting positive influence youth programs and sponsoring summer camps for those that cannot afford it on their own. The irony of this tragic outcome for someone who gives so much of themselves for the benefit of others, is a bitter pill to swallow.
Their congregation is small and has limited means. It seemed to me that there was an opportunity here to put into action the very nature of “THANKS – GIVING.”

I decided to extend their call out to the community a little further -- and I ask for your to help. The goal is simple, raise enough money to make a positive impact. They lost EVERYthing.

THANK you for your consideration.
