2013 Pre-Tri County Softball Tournament at Pinkneyville Park in Peachtree Corners - Recap

Behind every great organization there are dozens of wonderful people that work their tails off for our girls and for the sport of Softball.

Almost 1,000 girls representing nearly 80 teams from Gwinnett and neighboring counties filled the dugouts last week at Pinckneyville Park for the annual Pre Tri-County Tournament which ran from June 4 - 9.  Championship games are tonight beginning at 6pm.

In addition to Gwinnett, teams from the surrounding counties of Barrow, Walton and DeKalb are competing for a seeds in the Tri-County Tournament June 15-23 in Grayson.

As this is literally the first time the Norcross Youth Baseball & Softball Association (NYBSA) has hosted a Softball Tournament, it was paramount that we didn’t screw it up.  Our Softball Commissioner had a really big task with finding the right person for the job.  Fortunately for all of us, Andrew Nolan, accepted the responsiblity and has literally knocked it out of the park!  Softball here at Pinkneyville park has never been stronger.

Andrew's success with the 2013 Pre-Tri County Tournament, has gained the respect of our peers, not to mention the fact that our girls are a force to be reckoned with.  Our 12U & 10U girls put on a very strong showing with our 8U girls representing NYBSA in the Championship Game vs Peachtree Ridge tonight at 6pm.

I know I speak for our girls & everyone here at the park – Thank you Andrew & Karen!

NYBSA board

On behalf of our Tournament director, Andrew Nolan, I’d like to thank Kevin Hallem, the President of Norcross Youth Baseball Association and the entire board for their support of Girls softball.

Softball Commissior - Gary Robinson

Behind every great organization there are dozens of wonderful people that work their tails off for our girls and for the sport of Softball.  All for very little recognition, if any – like most volunteer positions it’s not about what you did but what you didn’t do.

Here at Pinkneyville Park we are very fortunate to have great leadership!  For countless years, our commissioner of softball has been dedicated to our girls and has worked tirelessly for the NYBSA.  I, along with Andrew Nolan and everyone associated with Norcross Softball, would like to recognize our Softball Commissioner, Gary Robinson, for everything he has done and continues to do for our girls.  It truly takes a special person to put up with parents, coaches and even the umpires, all while keeping the girls and the park as his priority.  Gary your hard work is NOT overlooked, thank you!

Volunteers

My role was to organize the volunteers for this 6, now 7 day event.  As I mentioned above, "Softball here at Pinkneyville Park has never been stronger."  Our parents are the #1 reason!  We have built a strong family foundation here that I feel will lead us to becoming one of the best organizations not only in the county but in the entire state.  Thank you parents for your support!  The future of Norcross Softball is bright - Go Blue Devils!
