Peachtree Corners Volunteers Win Great American Cleanup Award

This past spring 47 volunteers from Peachtree Corners spent their Saturday cleaning up litter and debris along several of the city's busy roadways as part of the Great American Cleanup day.

Their efforts paid off. On Monday, July 8, the volunteers received the "Put Litter in Place" title after removing nearly 2,000 pounds of litter and debris from six different locations in the city.

Working in conjunction with Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, the group of volunteers who represented the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association and the City of Peachtree Corners, were part of over 16,000 Gwinnett volunteers who worked on 186 projects throughout the county.

“UPCCA has been participating in the Great American Clean Up for several years but this was our best effort ever," said Pat Bruschini, UPCCA's past president. "The difference was teaming up with the city council. So special thanks go out to Mayor Mike Mason and city council members Phil Sadd, Alex Wright, Jeanne Aulbach and Lorri Christopher."

The Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest community improvement movement. Each year thousands of volunteers spend a day in various projects such as recycling, beautification and cleanup.
