YMCA Joins in On 'America's Night Out Against Crime'

In nearby Norcross, the YMCA participated in the city's first annual National Night Out event.

Tuesday evening, Peachtree Corners' joined over 400 people for the first annual National Night Out event in Norcross, dubbed "America's Night Out Against Crime".

"We are proud to have been a sponsor of this great event hosted by the Norcross Police Department" said Mark Thornell, Executive Director at Fowler YMCA.  

"The event is aimed at helping prevent crime in our community by join families, community partners, and the community for a fun and educational evening out. At the Y we know that when we work together, we move people and communities forward," said Thornell.

The event drew over 400 people to Thrasher Park where participants enjoyed good music, K-9 units demonstrations, storytelling, comedy, magic, face painting, arts and crafts, free food and door prizes and more.

The event coincided with the Whistlestop Farmers Market which provided extra delights.

"My kids are having a ball this evening," said one delighted mom as her kids made tissue flowers with the staff from Fowler Y, "and I don't have to cook. What's not to love?" 

National Night Out is held on the first Tuesday in August throughout the country.
