High School Teacher/Coach, 28, Dies After Heart Attack

Bond Crosby was the head baseball coach at Meadowcreek High School in Gwinnett County.

A Gwinnett County high school teacher and baseball coach passed away Thursday after complications from a massive heart attack.

He was only 28 years old.

Bond Crosby, the baseball coach at Meadowcreek High School near Norcross, died early Thursday morning, the Gwinnett Daily Post first reported. Crosby had fainted while playing softball a week ago. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery and was on life support before his condition “took a turn for the worse” Wednesday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, the family posted on his Caring Bridge page.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Crosby, originally from Valdosta, taught social studies and coached three sports at Meadowcreek. He was named the school’s head baseball coach before the 2014 season. In 2012, he was named the county’s top assistant football coach, according to the Post (read the story here).

“Bond fought very hard. The doctors, nurses, and staff worked tirelessly,” the Crosby family posted on Caring Bridge. “However, late this evening Bond’s condition took a turn for the worse. The family had time to say their goodbyes and Bond passed away peacefully at 1:00 am.”
