Paul Goddard, Bassist for Atlanta Rhythm Section, Has Died
Goddard was a founding member of the legendary rock band from Doraville.
Atlanta Rhythm Section bassist Paul Goddard has died, the band said on its Facebook page:
"We are saddened by the passing of our bass player and dear friend the legendary Paul Goddard...Rest in peace P.G."
There was no word on the cause of death.
Goddard was a founding member of ARS, made up of studio musicians who formed the band in Doraville in 1972, and became a hit-producer in the Southern rock genre.
ARS is best-known for such hits as "So Into You," "Imaginary Lover," "Spooky," "Doraville," "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight," and "Champagne Jam."
Goddard is the fourth ARS band member to have died. The others are: Robert Nix (2012; complications from surgery); Ronnie Hammond (2011; heart attack), R.J. Vealey (1999, heart attack).
