Could You Survive Without Email?

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano reportedly doesn't use email. Do you think you could manage without it?

The big news of the day Friday was that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano doesn’t use email – at all. Several news channels carried the story, including Good Morning America and New York Daily News.

“I don’t have any of my own accounts,” she reportedly told a cybersecurity conference hosted by National Journal. “I’m very secure.”

While there were some who were envious of the fact that she manages to avoid this form of communication that controls so much of our everyday life, there were others who were critical of her being so out of the loop on modern technology in this day and age. When asked what her reasons were for avoiding using email, and whether it is because she has concerns about email security, Napolitano reportedly said she avoids it for a "whole host of reasons."
