Bomb Scare in Peachtree Corners Monday Morning

Gwinnett Police and Bomb Squad responded to a report of a suspicious package on Peachtree Corners Circle early Monday morning.

Gwinnett Police were called to a business parking lot in Peachtree Corners Monday morning about a suspicious package found near a commercial van.

According to Cpl. Edwin Ritter, spokesman for Gwinnett Police, around 8:30 a.m. the Hazardous Devices Unit (HDU) was called in to investigate "a backpack left on a car at 4725 Peachtree Corners Circle."Β  But police found no explosives.

"HDU checked the backpack and found it did not contain any kind of destructive device," said Ritter.

According to police the backpack was found next to a van and all vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of the parking lot was halted while the bomb squad utilized their robot to investigate.

After an hour it was determined that the package was safe and traffic and employees were able to return.
