Bullet May Have Shattered SUV Window As Woman Drove in Peachtree Corners

According to a Gwinnett Police incident report, the vehicle was struck on Peachtree Parkway near Peachtree Corners Circle.

Gwinnett Police think a bullet may have been responsible for a broken window to an SUV as it was being driven in Peachtree Corners last week.

A Norcross woman told police she heard a loud pop before a driver’s side rear window shattered as she drove her Ford Explorer south on Peachtree Parkway near Peachtree Corners Circle. The glass fell into the cargo area of the vehicle.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on  June 18.

According to the police incident report, a projectile struck the edge of the window and caused the glass to shatter.

“The damage was consistent with a bullet of a handgun-type caliber,” the reporting officer wrote in the incident report. “The damage was not consistent with a rock or flying car part. …

“We both believed the damage was most likely caused by a firearm. [The victim] shoots and is familiar with firearms.”

Whatever hit the SUV wasn’t found. The woman said she didn’t know of anyone who would want to do her harm. There were shots reported in the area at the time.
