Investigators Seek Arsonist Who Set Pool-House Fire, then Called 911 to Report It

Gwinnett County Fire investigators have released surveillance images of a man they say started a fire at a subdivision pool in Peachtree Corners last week.

The fire was set around 3 a.m. on Friday, June 6 at 3350 Wyntree Drive in the Wyntree subdivision.

And in an odd twist, investigators believe the suspected arsonist called 911 from the pool-house phone to report the blaze.

Gwinnett Fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the fire caused extensive damage to the pool house, damaging a wall and two entrance doors.

Surveillance images show an adult male loitering in the area, then setting a fire in a corner at the building.

A Gwinnett police officer who arrived first on the scene put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters had to remove part of the siding and some sheetrock to make sure it was out.
