Gas Leak Forces Evacuations at Apartment Complex

The line was ruptured by workers digging near Highland Walk Apartments on South Norcross-Tucker Road.

Workers punctured a 3-inch gas supply line Monday morning, forcing the evacuation of apartments in the Norcross area.

Gwinnett Fire reported a company digging in the area of Highland Walk Apartments on South Norcross-Tucker Road ruptured the line after 9 a.m. on Monday, May 12.

There were no injuries.

β€œThe Highland Walk apartments had several units evacuated of residents by the responding firefighters,” Gwinnett Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said in an emailed statement.

Atlanta Gas Light arrived on the scene around 10 a.m.; the leak was secured around 1:30 p.m.Β
