Gwinnett Man Arrested on Charges of Killing Woman in Norcross Area
Police have charged Omar Santana, of Lawrenceville, in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Malia Ross in December in a fight that began at a Peachtree Corners bar.
Gwinnett County Police have made an arrest in the murder of a Norcross woman last December.
After searching his home, police charged Omar Santana, 25 of Lawrenceville with felony murder, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and aggravated assault. Investigators found evidence of drug sales and evidence from the homicide of Malia Ross, 21, inside Santana's home at 1431 Daniel Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
Early in the morning on December 9, 2012, GCPD responded to a call of a shooting at 4161 Phil Niekro Parkway in unincorporated Norcross. Police identified the victim as Ross. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Investigators say Ross was involved in a fight with another group that started at Liquid Ultra Lounge on Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners. The fight broke up but started up again at a gas station and then later at 4161 Phil Niekro Parkway where Ross was shot several times.
Detectives believe this incident may be related to gang activity.

Santana was taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
