Gwinnett Police: Murder Charges Filed in Gunfight That Killed Bystander

Police has 1 man in custody and are looking for another in connection with shooting death of Kevin Pierre.

Gwinnett Police have one person in custody and is looking for another, both charged in the homicide of an innocent bystander during a gunfight on April 13 at a Norcross-area apartment complex.

Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Sherwin Johnson, 34, was arrested Wednesday, April 23 and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the shooting death of Kevin Pierre near the Bradford Gwinnett Apartments on Castor Road. Quinton Hall, 29, faces the same charges, but hasn’t been apprehended (Hall’s photo is attached to this article).

Police said the shooting started a dispute between people who knew each other, but Pierre was not believed to be involved.

“The dispute escalated into a physical fight during which shots were fired,” Smith said in an email. “Detectives believe the victim was struck by a stray shot and fled the scene on foot before succumbing to his injury.
