Gwinnett Police Shoot Alleged Bank Robber

The man is suspected of robbing Bank of America branch in Lawrenceville area.

Gwinnett Police shot a man suspected of robbing a Lawrenceville-area bank Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the man, who was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, is alleged to have robbed a Bank of America branch on Old Peachtree Road at Sever Road.

According to an emailed release, police located the man's vehicle near Boggs Road and Duluth Highway, and then chased him to the area of Pleasant Hill and Old Norcross roads, where he got out. Later, he apparently car-jacked another vehicle.

Police then located the hijacked car and chased it until the man wrecked the car on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Satellite Boulevard in Duluth, according to the release. The shootout then occurred between police and the man.
