Holcomb Bridge Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Gwinnett police have detained man in connection with Saturday morning robbery of Fifth/Third Bank.

Today Gwinnett police announced the arrest of a DeKalb man suspected of robbing the Fifth/Third Bank on Holcomb Bridge Road in the unincorporated area of Norcross on Saturday morning.

Hakika Ervin, described as a tall black man with curly hair and a beard, entered the bank Saturday morning around 9:20. Wearing a hooded sweatshirt, he approached the teller counter and demanded cash and fled with approximately $2,800.

A security camera recorded the tag number of a blue BMW X5 SUV leaving the scene and police were able to trace to vehicle to Ervin, 39, who was living in an apartment complex on Tilly Mill Road.

While police were en-route to the suspect's Tilly Mill address, officers saw Erwin's car. The driver matched Erwin's description and police took him into custody. Police later found the stolen money and clothing worn during the robbery at Erwin's apartment.

He has been charged with robbery by intimidation and is being held at the Gwinnett county Detention Center.
