Man Steals Roswell Police Car, Crashes in Gwinnett

A man was able to escape from Roswell police twice, leads police on wild chase that ends in Peachtree Corners near Peachtree Industrial and Jimmy Carter boulevards.

A man, arrested by Roswell police early Friday morning, lead the police on a wild chase in a stolen patrol car, according to Channel 2 News, before crashing the police vehicle near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Jimmy Carter boulevards in Peachtree Corners.

The suspect, identified as Jesse Hiltner, was able to slip away from police twice, first during a traffic stop on Ga. 140 at Old Dogwood Road.

Police said the man took off during the traffic stop driving through parking lots of nearby businesses, before spinning out. Then he jumped out of his car and began to run from police.

Police caught up with him again, used a stun gun to subdue him, he was handcuffed and put in the back of a patrol car, Roswell police Lt. James McGee told the Channel 2 news reporter.

Hiltner then got out of the back seat of the patrol car and into the front seat of the sergeant's car, takes off, jumping a curb leading Roswell police into Gwinnett County where the chase ended when the man wrecked the stolen patrol car near Peachtree Industrial and Jimmy Carter boulevards.

Police report that Hiltner was taken to a hospital for minor injuries, no police officers were hurt.

Hiltneris facing a slew of charges from the police chase as well as drug charges.
