News Nearby: Norcross Police Searching for 911 Caller for Help in Rape Case

Police believe the caller's incident may be connected to another case that allegedly took place in the same room of a Norcross Guest Inn.

The Norcross Police Department is searching for an anonymous 911 caller alleging she was raped in 2012 because they believe the incident may be related to a similar case in Norcross.

According to Sgt. Bill Grogan of Norcross Police, a man was arrested in early March on charges of rape and aggravated sodomy on a 21-year-old female he met at the Guest Inn in Norcross. Police have asked for the suspect's identity not to be released.

The victim told police that a week before the incident, the two met at a bar in Atlanta, and they exchanged phone calls. On the night of the incident, they met at the hotel, where the crimes allegedly took place. She reported it to police the next morning.

During the investigation, evidence led police to believe that the incident was not the first time the offender had sexually assaulted a female in the area. Sometime in the later part of last year, a woman anonymously called Gwinnett County Police to report a similar case.

It turns out that both incidents took place in the same room of the same Guest Inn, said Grogan in a press conference Thursday.
