Aug. 27: Simple battery reported at 9:30 p.m. on the 3200 block of Country Club Village Lane.

Aug. 29: Theft by receiving-possession of a stolen vehicle reported at 3:37 p.m. on the 3600 block of Peachtree Corners Circle.

Aug. 30: Assault and battery reported at 10:14 a.m. on the 3400 block of Holcomb Bridge Road.

Aug. 31: Simple assault reported at 10:30 p.m. on the 4700 block of Bankside Way.

Aug. 31: Assault and battery reported at 12:10 p.m. on the 3800 block of Moran Way.

Aug. 31: Assault was reported at 1:00 a.m. on the 5200 block of Peachtree Parkway.

Sept. 2: Theft, entering auto was reported at 7:00 p.m. on the 4900 block of Avocet Drive.

**Sept. 3: DUI Arrest was made at 1:50 a.m. at the intersection of Medlock Bridge Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

Sept. 4: Assault and battery was reported at 1:30 a.m. on the 5000 block of Beverrly Glenn Village Lane.

Sept. 5: Theft, entering auto was reported at 4:45 a.m. on the 3200 block of Wyncroft Place.

Sept. 5: Non-forced residential burglary was reported at 4:20 a.m. on the 3200 block of Wyncroft Place.

Sept. 5: Theft by taking was reported at 8:00 a.m. on the 3700 block of Davinci Court.

Sept. 7: Assault and battery was reported at 12:01 a.m. on the 5000 block of Peachtree Parkway.

** This past Labor Day just before 2 a.m. Gwinnett Police were called to the intersection of Medlock Bridge Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard where they found a black Mercedes-Benz with its engine and lights off. And they found 29-year-old Philp Grant passed out in the front seat of his car.

It took several minutes for police to awaken the sleeping man. When Grant did awaken, it another minute or two for him to get out of his vehicle, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the man's breath and inside the car.

With glazed eyes and slurred speech, Grant told police he had been in Duluth and was on his way back to Atlanta. He told police had not had anything to drink and refused to blow into the portable alco-sensor.

Police arrested him anyway, during the ride back to police headquarters Grant told the officer that the judge should give him rehab. He said he didn't have a drinking problem but when he drank, he usually drank too much. He passed out in the back of the patrol car on his way to the station.

Grant was sited for DUI, failure to obey a traffic control device and parking withing 30 feet of a traffic light.

Grant works as a fraud investigator for Progressive Insurance. Grant told the officer he was angry with himself for passing out in his car in the middle of the road and putting people in danger.
