Police ID Victim in Fatal Shootout at Gwinnett Apartment Complex

Shots were heard before midnight near Bradford Gwinnett Apartments.

Gwinnett Police have identified the victim in the fatal overnight shooting near Bradford Gwinnett Apartments.

According to an updated media alert, Kevin Pierre, 23, died of a gunshot wound from an apparent shootout around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, April 13, near 100 Castor Drive in unincorporated Norcross.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Pierre’s body was found by an officer after midnight in a wooded area behind 2092 Beaver Springs Lane, adjacent to the apartment complex. Pierre lived on Beaver Springs Lane.

“Detectives believe he was shot during the incident about an hour before, but do not know if he was an intended target or shot accidentally,” Smith said via email.

Smith said police responded to a report of shots fired around 11:15 p.m. near the apartment complex. Officers spoke with several people on the scene, but there was no immediate evidence that someone had been shot.

“At about 11:24 p.m., the Norcross Police Department reported they had a victim whose car had been shot, but was uninjured,” Smith said in the alert. “GCPD officers also interviewed that victim. Local hospitals were notified to be on the lookout for gunshot victims.”

An officer searching on foot found Pierre’s body at 12:12 a.m., according to Smith.

Detective have interviewed witnesses and “people of interest” but no arrests or charges have been made.
