Police: Victim in Apartment Complex Shooting May Have Been Innocent Bystander

Kevin Pierre, 23, was shot and killed near Bradford Gwinnett Apartments.

The man shot and killed in a Norcross-area shooting earlier this week may have been an innocent bystander, according to Gwinnett Police.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reported Kevin Pierre, 23, was “likely” not the target in the shooting late Sunday night near Bradford Gwinnett Apartments off Castor Drive. Pierre’s body was found around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 14, about an hour after gunshots and squealing tires were heard by several witnesses. Pierre lived nearby on Beaver Springs Lane and was believed to be a student at Georgia Gwinnett College, according to the Post.

Gwinnett Police told the newspaper a fight broke out at the apartment complex before the gunfire. Witnesses said Pierre was not involved in the fight.
