She Says She Kicked Nephew Out of House, But He Came Back

Inside Police Reports: She thinks he burglarized the place.

A Peachtree Corners woman told police that after she kicked her nephew out of her apartment, he went back in and burglarized the place.

She says he must have unlocked the back door before she thought he was gone for good from her Jones Mill Road residence.

According to the Gwinnett Police incident report, the woman said the nephew, who was from Illinois, had been staying with her for the past three weeks, but only until he found other arrangements.

He was supposed to pay some money for rent, which he didn’t, and even worse, she said he was smoking pot in the apartment.

She told him to leave on May 18. The nephew and his girlfriend gathered his belongings and were in the breezeway outside when the woman locked the front door and went to work, she said. He returned his apartment key to her before she left.

When she returned the next morning, she found the back door open. Missing were a cable modem box and a leather bag (contents unknown).

She thinks the nephew secretly unlocked the back door shortly before leaving.

She said he later admitted to the crime via text, but the officer found no such text when he inspected her phone.

The nephew is suspected to have moved to Augusta, where his girlfriend lives.
