Woman Found Dead In Room After Apparent Fire

The incident occurred Saturday night in a Norcross-area home.

Gwinnett fire and police investigators are trying to piece together what led to a woman’s death Saturday evening after an apparent room fire at a Norcross residence.

Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said firefighters answered a medical call of a person down at a home on Heritage Valley Road around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31.

A family member found the woman unconscious and unresponsive in a room where there had been a fire earlier, Rutledge said. The fire was contained to the room.
