Early Voting Underway in Gwinnett

Voters can get a jump on casting ballots ahead of the July 31 primary date.

Now, the long-awaited election season in Peachtree Corners and Gwinnett has arrived. Advance voting began on Monday, July 9, for the primary, which is officially held on July 31. Advance voting will end on Friday, July 27.

Several key races will be on the ballots. Among them:

Gwinnett School Board, District 3: Incumbent Mary Kay Murphy, a Republican, and Berkeley Lake resident Jen Falk, a Democrat, are running unopposed in the primaries. They will face each other in the November general election.

TSPLOST: The referendum, which is being held across a 10-county region of metro Atlanta, would add a 1 percent sales tax, which would be used to fund transportation-related improvements.

U.S. Congress District 7: U.S. Representative Rob Woodall, a Republican, faces a challenge from businessman David Hancock.

Gwinnett BOC District 1: The seat, which is open, is being sought by former Suwanee City Council Member Jace Brooks and Suwanee accountant Laurie McClain, both Republicans. The district represents both Suwanee and Duluth. Both candidates have raised a lot of money and have some prominent supporters.

Voting will be at the Gwinnett Elections Office, 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, Lawrenceville 30046. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Also, satellite voting offices will be in operation from July 23-27, 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center in Suwanee, the Centerville Community Center in Snellville, Dacula Park Activity Building in Dacula, and Lucky Shoals Park Community Recreation Center in Norcross.
