Candidates Begin Qualifying for Upcoming City Elections

Peachtree Corners citizens will elect a mayor and six council members on March 6, 2012.

 

Qualifying for the mayor and six council seats began on Monday, Nov. 28 and 17 Peachtree Corners citizens have already have thrown their hats into the ring for the March 6, 2012 election.

Following are the names and offices of those who had qualified as of the end of business day Tuesday, Nov. 29. Qualifying ends Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 12 noon.

Mayor: Mike Mason

Post 1: Nneka Chukwu and Joe Sawyer.

Post 2: Stephen Peet and Jay Lowe.

Post 3: Alex Wright, Vera Nercessian and David Proud.

Post 4: Gloria Gore Rucks, Robert Byars and Jeanne Aulbach.

Post 5: Lorri Christopher, Brent Johnson and Gray Terry.

Post 6: Raymond Cobb and David Leader.

The city council seats for Post 4, Post 5 and Post 6 are at-large positions and will be elected by the votors (at large) by majority vote.

For the council seats for Post 1, Post 2 and Post 3, the city is divided into three districts, one member of the board shall be elected from each district by only the voters of that district by majority vote.

To qualify, a candidate must be a resident of the city for 12 months prior to the election date.
