Downtown Development Authority To Review Proposals

The three RFPs submitted by developers will be presented on Monday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.

On Monday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. the Peachtree Corners Downtown Development Authority will meet to hear proposals from developers on the property across from the Forum. The public is invited to attend.

Three developers responded to the city's RFP and will make presentations at the meeting: Following is the presentation schedule:

  1. TPA Group, LLC; 10:15 - 11 a.m.
  2. Fugua Development, LP; 11:10 - 11:55 a.m.
  3. Mccauley & Schmidt; 12:05 - 12:50 p.m.
"All three proposals are from good reputable companies," said Diana Wheeler, the city's Community Development Director.

The 20.6 acres have already been rezoned from apartments to Multi-Use Development (M.U.D.) which allows development of commercial, retail, hotel, restaurant, residential, open space, and theaters.

The DDA will hear the presentations then move to executive session. This portion of the meeting is not open to the public.

But it's a hurry-up-and-wait process as ground breaking is still probably a year away.

Between now and then the DDA must chose a developer, a contract must be drawn up, a four to five month process, development plans must be drawn up, (a three-month process,) and submitted to the Planning Commission for recommendation and then to City Council. And public hearings will be scheduled during both the Planning Commission and City Council meetings as part of the process.
