Expect Daytime Traffic Delays at New I-85 Bridge at Jimmy Carter Blvd.

Construction crews will be working on the diverging diamond interchange at I-85 starting Monday, July 15.

Drivers should expect periodic, daytime lane closures and delays at the I-85 bridge at Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross starting Monday, July 15.

Construction crews will be pouring concrete for the barrier wall as part of the diverging diamond interchange, according to Gwinnett Village CID Executive Director Chuck Warbington.

The construction is dependent on the weather, though. Because of rain, the delays may take place after Monday.

During construction, the community improvement district suggests finding an alternative route to avoid traffic. Drivers can take Brook Hollow Parkway to Center Way or Indian Trail Road to get across I-85.

Construction started in March 2013; work on the new diverging diamond interchange is expected to be complete in March 2014.
