Improvements to Peachtree Corners Circle Intersection In the Works

Gwinnett County has the work scheduled for late summer or early fall at the intersection of S.R. 141 and Peachtree Corners Circle

For westbound traffic on Peachtree Corners Circle, crossing over S.R. 141 can take several light changes during rush hour.

There's good news; some relief is on the way.

Gwinnett County has scheduled work at the intersection that's due to start in four to five months. It's a quick-fix of sorts that involves restripping the right turn only lane.

"We currently have an in-house road improvement project slated for completion in late summer or early fall that will convert the westbound right turn lane on Peachtree Corners Circle into a through/right turn lane at the intersection of S.R. 141," said Heather Sawyer, spokesperson for Gwinnett County.

"After the project is complete, drivers will be able to go straight or turn right instead of just turning right," she said.

With a major development about to break ground on a 7-acre site on the corner of Peachtree Corners Circle and S.R. 141 that includes a Chase Bank with drive-in service, and the rebuilding and opening of Dreamland BBQ, it will offer some relief to the traffic flow. According to the county, no further plans for improvements are on the books for this intersection.

A video taken during mid day shows most traffic at this intersection turns left or continues across the intersection, so an extra lane should provide some relief.

A PDF included with this story shows the planned changes, which are marked in read. Click on the PDF to view and print.

What do you think? Is the alterations to the intersection going to be adequate or is it just a band-aid? Should the road be widened with additional lanes?
