Legislation to Create County's 16th City Passes Senate Today

H.B. 396 made it through Senate approval today and now heads to the governor's desk.

The community of Peachtree Corners just made a substantial step toward cityhood. H.B. 396, introduced to the Georgia Legislation in January by State Rep. Tom Rice (R-Norcross) has passed the Senate today and is on its way to Gov. Nathan Deal's desk.

Mike Mason, president of the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association (UPCCA), was thrilled when he received the news. He heads the all-volunteer civic organization who headed up the efforts of exploring the idea of cityhood for this community of some 35,000.

"We are excited by the news and humbled by this vote of confidence in the citizens of Peachtree Corners," said Mason.
