New City Hall May Open by End of September

Work is underway to prepare the office space that will serve as City Hall for Peachtree Corners - and the city is getting closer to naming a City Manager.

The interior walls have been painted, new blinds hung and fresh carpet is being ordered for the office space that will soon be the City of Peachtree Corners City Hall.

In June the City signed the lease for 147 Technology Parkway, now the priority is getting it furnished and selecting the office equipment needed. The .

"We're looking at the equipment and furniture now," said Council member Lorri Christopher, (Post 6). "We're working with the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) who has a list of vetted vendors."

The DOAS, she said, will also be able to make recommendations and provide input on just what is needed for the 8,000 square-foot space but it will be up to the City Council to make the final decision on what is purchased.

Christopher said the City is working on a target date of the end of September to have everything finished - and then the City plans to hold an open house for residents to come and get a look at the new facility.

But Christopher cautioned, "the opening of City Hall will be dependent on getting the furniture and equipment from the suppliers and vendors."

In other news, the City Council is getting closer to selecting a City Manager. Christopher said the city received almost 50 applicants for the job - including "a significant number of very good Georgia candidates."
