New Growler Business, Metal Recycling Gets OK From Council
At Tuesday night's meeting The Peachtree Corners City Council also approved a waiver to allow a private gate and roads for new subdivision on Bush Road.
The City Council quickly worked through the agenda items at Tuesday night's meeting approving three and withdrawing one for a later decision.
Newell Recycling of Gwinnett's request to add metal recycling and auto salvage operations to their Amwiler Road location was approved.
Company representative Bobby Triesch requested that one of the special conditions recommended by the Planning Commission be removed. Triesch objected to the requirement that the zoning conditions include a sunset provision which he said was vague and not relevant.

"We don't like this provision," said Triesch who explained that from the company's prospective they did not making a large investment with the idea of the zoning conditions subject to change in two years.
"We'd like this struck," said Triesch. Council agreed and it was removed.

The city's first request for an alcoholic beverage license for a growler business came before the council. Diana Wheeler, the Community Development Director, said all the necessary background checks and advertising had been done and she recommended approval.
Business owner Steven Hamlet plans to open Peachtree Growler Co. in the Goodwill shopping center on Peachtree Parkway. He says he intends to sell the the beer which contains no preservatives, along with food and snack items.
"It will be kind of like a farmer's market," said Hamlet, "or a really cool convenience store." He said initially he will not sell wine, but may add that item later.
Also approved was a request by the developer of Peachtree Reserve, a 16-home development on Bush Road for a gated subdivision and private streets.Â
The city approved the request but with several conditions including a requirement that a Homeowners Association would be formed which would be responsible for collecting funds for any cost in connection with street, street lights, landscaping and drainage repairs and maintenance.
The council withdrew the second item on the agenda which was a Second Read to consider an ordinance to amend the city's charter concerning the number of required readings to pass an ordinance.
The council also heard a First Read of the request to allow a veterinary clinic to locate in an office building on Peachtree Parkway. The Second Read will be heard on Tuesday, April 2.
