No Decision Yet on Veterinary Clinic

The request for a change in zoning condition was deferred at Tuesday night's City Council meeting.

The long-anticipated decision by the Peachtree Corners City Council on whether or not to allow a veterinary clinic to operate in the Parkway Office Suites has been delayed.

According to City Clerk Kym Chereck, the applicant, Alberto Bazan, requested that the City Council defer his request for a change in condition to allow him to operate a veterinary clinic in the two-story building.

After the council meeting, Mayor Mike Mason said he'd been inundated with emails from residents and recommended that Bazan take a look at the objections that people had to see if they could be resolved.

Mason acknowledged it would be an uphill climb for Bazan. "You've got one foot in the grave when the Planning Commission votes against a request," said Mason. A date on when it will be heard has not been set.

On March 12 the Planning Commission voted 4-0 against the request to change the conditions of zoning to allow the veterinary clinic to operate in a building currently occupied by some 20 businesses.

The current owners would like to sell the building and Bazan would like to purchase it to set up a veterinary clinic that his sister, a licensed veterinarian, would run.

"New information came to light that must be addressed before we move forward," said Bazan as the reason he asked the City Council to defer voting on his request for a change in condition.
